Cap Hits are based on number of yrs on the contract. Any player dropped incurs a 50% cap hit in the current season. The % hit for yrs 2-5 are taken the following year only and then you are out from under the contract the following year.

1 yr - just the 50% for current year
2 yr - 15%
3 yr - 25%
4 yr - 35%
5 yr - 45%

So for example, if you drop a player with a 3 yr contract in 2007, you'll take a 50% hit in 2007 and a 25% hit in 2008. In 2009 you are free of any further obligation.

Final 2010 Salary Cap Hits

Post by bonscott » Tue Feb 16, 2010 8:24 am

Final cap hits update for 2010 season are now uploaded. Any players dropped from now on will be counted against the 2011 cap (other then then 50% current year hit of course). Note that B2M dropped a guy today (on the 16th), that will actually be a 2010 drop and thus 50% hit of his increased salary for 2010. That will be noted once the 2010 site is available.

When do we get an update for the 2011 cap hits? Would be nice to know the exact number before bidding on RFA's...and I'm pretty horrible at math.

The spreadsheet is updated daily and is currently updated as of today so you can check it. Since people can still drop until tonight it will be until tomorrow to get final numbers.

Usually, when the commissioner has a good team, these are the kind of polls you see...

So just to clarify, our "available cap space" listed under our team roster page is now updated and reflects exactly how much $$ each team has to sign players?

It's updated outside a couple drops this weekend which I haven't gotten to but will today. I pretty much keep up on it on a daily basis. If you see something missing outside of this weekend though let me know.

Looks like it's good to go. The drops this weekend were 1 yr guys so no future hits and I went back a couple weeks and everything is in.

Again, if something is missing definitely post or PM me to let me know.
