Can a team trade a player and get nothing in return?

I'd love to get everyone's thoughts on this.

So let's say team A and team B want to trade.

Team A wants salary cap room and team B wants a player.

Should we allow team A to trade away, one or multiple players, to team B and team B trades away nothing?

From what I can tell the NFL doesn't allow this kind of trade but the Brock Oiswieler trade is pretty close.

I'd like to address this in our rule book based on everyone else's thoughts.

Seems like a clever trade to me. I'd definitely allow it.

Joking aside, I don't see anything saying NFL teams can or can't trade dead money without getting anything in return, but if it were possible I feel like teams would have done it by now, similar to how NBA teams trade for "cash considerations."

just because it doesn't happen in the NFL doesn't mean we can't do it for fantasy.

As long as the commish (and we trust the commish) doesn't deem it collusion, I think it should be allowed.

I would allow it. A great way to get rid of a cap problem or reduce roster size. I have seen NFL trades where teams trade a guy and then draft picks are added with minimal upside or guys low on the roster are added. Basically the same thing. Our rosters and drafts are smaller so we do not have the same flexibility.

As long as there is no collusion proven, I am in favor of allowing any trade to occur.

Sounds like a valid strategy. As stated before, as long as there isn't collusion between the teams. Both teams could theoretically gain something in such a trade. Salary/roster relief for the team trading players for nothing, and the team receiving the players gains a player or players that could help his team while taking on the players salaries or incurring a cap hit when dropping the players he doesn't want.
