We need to nail down an exact time and date for our draft. So far we have the weekend of May 2-4th set aside.
What day and time works best for everyone??

here we go again, I will be out of town Friday the 2nd and Saturday the 3rd, could do something on Sunday afternoon. I can always leave a proxy, or be phoned, or have some buddies help me with it. A friend of mine is getting married and this is his bachelor party weekend. I usually am not near this busy, but this year is an exemption to my normal lively hood.
January went to Disney for a week
March went to St. Louis for the NCAA Wrestling Championships
May have a Bachelor party weekend
End of May have a wedding Weekend
June going to Williamsburg, VA for along weekend
July going to North Carolina for a family reunion
Sept going to Florida for a week
October going to DC for a long weekend
hopefully thats it, I usually do one or two things a year but nothing like this
yet none of this besides last weekend should effect my fantasy football

Date doesn't matter to me but earlier in May the better as camping season will begin soon after.
Bowbie, I wouldn't worry too much if you're gone, this will be a "regular" draft so you can load up all the players you might want at your draft spots and when your time comes up it will take the highest one you have left on your draft list. Besides, if we do it like a regular slow draft there will be 12 hour timer per pick or so, so unless everyone is on the ball the draft I'm sure will go into the beginning of the week.

Won't matter to me. I'll be ready whenever, and wherever I am. This new iPhone hooks me up.

As long as its a 12 hour time limit I'm fine. School and work schedule just won't allow me to allot 3-4 hours of my time strictly to fantasy football

May is going to be a tough month for me as I have a lot of vacation plans, however as long as we have the 12 hour timer and I have Wi-Fi access I should be good to go anytime

The plan is for this to be live, but with only 2 rounds we're talking 30-40 minutes 1 hour max.

I'm sure that won't be a problem for me then. May be a problem finding 45 minutes or so where all 16 of us can be online at once however.

Lets say Sunday 12pm PST/3pm EST.
If that won't work let me know and we'll see about tweaking the time but as Amish said it should be really easy to prepare for even if you can't make it. Most people have 2 draft picks and for the most part you can just put together a list. There won't be alot of VBD or anything to elaborate I wouldn't think, in most cases just take the best guy available especially in the second round.

What is the rush to get the Rookie draft done and over with? I am not oppose to a live draft but even if we gave each owner 12 hours to pick and each owner took the full 12 hours, the draft still would be over in 2 and half weeks. Maybe I am missing something.

I can probably do a live draft (with a pre-draft list anyway) but I certainly don't have a problem with a normal email draft with a 12 (or even 8) hour timer and would probably prefer it. We certainly have no hurry as others have said and getting 16 guys together is going to be tough for a live draft.
But whatever works best for the majority.

There is certainly no rush, I've just always envisioned this to be a live draft. I prefer live drafts over email drafts but there are advantages to the email style as well.

Personally I like the trade opportunities an email style draft offers. I've never been one to pre select players except for the obvious ones. I don't want to find out I missed an opportunity at a great trade, because I just loaded up the best available player and didn't take time to listen to an offer.

I would not be able to participate in a live draft on this date as I will be out of town (will actually be in the air at this time).
Now, as it stands today, I only own the 2.16 draft pick, so if the owners are OK with allowing me to make my draft pick later in the evening (once I get to the hotel) and the 2.17 and 2.18 draft pick owners do not object, you all could keep the draft on the same date and time.

Either live or email is fine with me, I do like the idea of being able to trade picks. So what ever works best for the majority of people is fine with me.
If we go email what's the over/under on how long it takes before someone complains about how long the draft is taking.

Maybe we do what Chaos proposed if the owners of picks 2.17 and 2.18 are ok with it. Outside of Chaos is there any other owners that can't make it on the proposed date? Email or live draft I can go either way, maybe I just mis-read some of the previous post about this topic, but it felt like we were trying to rush things along.....bad day at work I guess.

If we're talking May 3rd/4th then my in-laws will be in town that weekend so I doubt I'll be around for a live draft but you never know. Email draft is fine by me but again I'll do whatever. I only have 2nd round picks anyway and I'm certainly in no hurry. Got over 5 months until the season.

More I think about it the more I'd like to have an email draft with an 8-12 hour timer.
I'm thinking about it this way: After the top 10-15 guys off the board it will be a whole lot of players nobody has heard of. Sure would be nice to be able to do a bit of research on these unknowns.

I feel the same way. Because of both the research angle and the trade possibilities mentioned earlier. Just my

, I'll roll with anything that is decided.

I have no problem that weekend and since I'm on a rotation of 3 on and 3 off of 12 hours the slow e-mail draft may not be so bad. Either way is fine for me. If we had a live draft and it's a day I'm working I may be sick that day.

So, do we have a decision on this?
If we need to vote I vote to do a regular email draft with an 8 or 12 hour timer. We are in no hurry and this will give us all time to research our picks, particularly in the 2nd round.
