My vote is for...
Nice try, but I'm guessing it didn't work out as planned.

I feel fantastic about this attempt, it's something I was curious about. Glad you tested it out and showed what a great idea it is.

One Question. If you where only going to sign him for one year why didn't you keep him at 467,500 for this year and then tagged him for the next year at almost the same price? Or is that you thought it would of been cheaper that you could keep him longer?

I thought his price would have been between 2-4 million. I would have signed him to a 3 yr contract at that price. He would have been the hottest tagged player out there if I tagged him and he had another top 10 yr. I wasn't going to sign him at 6 million to a long term deal. I started to let you guys have him when he got to 5.8 million but I decided I needed him for my championship run and didn't want to count on 2nd yr players to whoop you guyirishpride8 wrote:Boyz II Men wrote:TRUEAchon44 wrote:My vote is for...

The Boys should have waited until nobody else had more then 3-4 million in cap space.
By the way, no hard feelings. I got worried because as I said before, I've seen leagues completely fall apart because of this very move and didn't want to see the same thing here. The first time something like this works and someone gets Peyton Manning at 2 million for 5 years, watch out for the fallout.

That will never happen, unless of course your talking about the 50 yr old version on the downside of his career. Lowest possible price a top 10 player could ever go for is about 5 million, there will always be too many teams with around 4-5 million in cap room without dropping anyone to make this work as designed. I can guarantee you Welker (or you can insert any top player for that matter) would have gone for every last dime of my cap room if no one else placed a single bid.bonscott wrote:Peyton Manning at 2 million for 5 years, watch out for the fallout.

I'm just saying that it has happened before in other leagues and gone very badly and any guarantee can be forgotten if the right circumstances appear.
Yea, perhaps in this league it would be a rare event. I'm just lending some experience and was afraid for the league. I apologize.

No need to apologize, I agree 100% with your concerns, I just don't think we'll run into a nightmare scenario that's all. Undervalue signing is sure possible though.
