Recap of rule changes

Post by bonscott » Wed Jul 30, 2008 6:35 am

Ok, so I just want to make sure I have the new rules for 2009 down before I assign contracts to my rookies.

1) After the 2008 season is over (after week 17) we will lift the max roster requirements with a "cut down" deadline in August 2009.

2) Max rosters will then be 22 starting at that cut down day and during the season.

3) PR size will expand to 3 when the 2009 season begins in the winter 09 before the rookie draft

4) We'll have an optional 3rd round in the rookie draft

5) Starting in the 2009 season contract cap expands by 10 to 80.

6) Also, wasn't there something about adjusting the tagging period dates a bit, like tagged players must be in by the start of the new season on Feb 15th?

Do I have them all?

Also, wasn't there a discussion about the rookie salary scale, did that ever come up to a vote?

The Constitution looks like it needs to be updated to reflect the 3 round rookie draft, 3rd PR/taxi squad slot and the lifting of roster maximums in the off-season.

I think that sounds right, I'm a little swamped with the draftmaster leagues at the moment but once those conclude we can tie up all the lose ends before the start of the season.

Wasn't there some discussion of possibly factoring in special team return yards into scoring for 09?... Or was that just my imagination (running away w/ meeeeeee)

Also, what is the EXACT date we need to have our rookie contracts in?

Thanks

Just to bump this up so we can make sure we have all our ducks in a row before we get too far into the season. :yippee:

I updated the constitution :sweet:

I dug up the previous discussion on that and updated the dates a bit basically teams have until Feb 15th to put claims on pending FA's
Do I have them all?
I also cleaned up the end of the offseason FA problem based on our previous discusions.
Also, wasn't there a discussion about the rookie salary scale, did that ever come up to a vote?
Finally Squared that away and added the new table to the constitution.

Let me know if you see any mistakes.

Looking good! Found a couple things.

1) Under Important Dates it says "Early May, one week after the NFL Draft, we'll hold our 2 round Rookie Draft". Needs updated to 3 round rookie draft.

2) Under In-Season Blind Bidding Process the last point says "During the In-Season Free Agent period teams that are awarded player(s) must submit the contract year for that player to the league message board within 24hrs. Failure to submit a contract for a player will result if a 50% cap hit of that player salary and the player will be released from that team's roster."
I believe it should be updated to be similar to the statement under Salary Caps/Contracts which reads "All Players acquired in Free Agency will be given a default contract of 1 year, if you would like a longer contract, you must submit the contract within 24 hours of the signing, you may do this by adding comments to the transaction or by posting on the league message board."

3) There is a listing for a Week 17 Pro Bowl. We didn't do that last year, did we?

I made those two changes you mentioned. I don't remember if we posted the scores for that game or not. I know we were going to make some sort of monetary prize for it but decided against it so it is kind of an after thought.

Remind me, to make sure that is posted this year if I forget. :blunt:
