I've never been in a league that's used VP, so I dunno if it's better then a standard W-L-T, but looking at how this one will work I would think that it would give a better representation of how a team should be placed overall?Regular season standings will be calculated using the victory point (VP) system.
* Teams will earn 2 VPs for a H2H victory, 1 VP for a tie, and 0 VP for a loss.
* Each team finishing among the top 5 scorers in their conference each week will receive 2 VPs. Teams finishing 6th through 11th in their conference will receive 1 VP, and teams finishing 12th through 16th will receive 0 VP.
* With double-headers, 6 total VPs are possible per week, and with a bye week in a 12 week season, 66 total VPs are possible over the course of the season.

Been looking at a bunch of different rules for potential leagues to join as another time suck and came across this:

Not really a fan of victory points. As much as I like hockey it feels too much like that. Get points for actually losing.

I don't think I'd like it to replace W/L/T, but I could see it as a tie breaker or something.

We used in one year in a league I was in. The ownership, by and large, didn't like it and we switched back. The thought behind the change was to try to reduce the "luck factor" within the schedule. While it did reward steady scoring teams, most of the guys liked the unpredictability that the schedule provides.Wascawy Wabbits wrote:Been looking at a bunch of different rules for potential leagues to join as another time suck and came across this:I've never been in a league that's used VP, so I dunno if it's better then a standard W-L-T, but looking at how this one will work I would think that it would give a better representation of how a team should be placed overall?Regular season standings will be calculated using the victory point (VP) system.

I would prefer to keep things as is -- I like the matchups each week meaning something and not complicating things. That's my take.
