I know we talked about this a few years ago and the league was kinda split on it but we have a bunch of new owners now.
But I would love for there to be a 4th round in the rookie draft.

There has been a bunch of rookies taken in the auction after the draft this year, and there were a number of them the past couple years as well. Optional of course just like the 3rd round.
I also wouldn't mind 4 spots on the taxi squad too if we went with a 4th round.

I like both of these proposals...
At the end of the day there would definitely be some talent still available to draft for a 4th round and also opens the door for additional trading of picks. Having it optional like the 3rd round would perfect so guys can pass if they just dont see something they like.
With the taxi squad 4 is nice, but I would welcome an even bigger bump to 5.

Would any of these changes include increasing the total number of contract years per team or leaving it the same?

See the other thread where we are talking about getting rid of the contract cap completely.

I like this idea more and more...add a 4th round, eliminate the contract cap, expand the roster max by a few spots, and also increase the taxi squad by 1-2.

Personally I do not like the idea of a 4th round. I like that there may be a few guys that go undrafted and are signed as rookie FA's just like in the NFL.

I agree...
I'm good with just 3 rounds for the rookie draft. Leaves a few guys to pick up as UDFA's if you really wanted to.

At first I didn't like the idea at all... now after thinking about it a bit, I'm a little torn. On one hand, I like the idea of getting those low end rooks for a minimum salary guaranteed. I've had decent luck with post draft rookie picks, so I'll always be after some of those guys. On the other hand, if we had a fourth round more people would probably use their pick and there'd be less guys for me to choose from.
So, I guess I'm undecided but lean towards the "if it ain't broke" end of the spectrum.

Looks like the league is pretty split on this issue still. I think this one is dead Jim. And I won't bring it up again.
