Dispersal draft for future league seasons if multiple owners leave?
Just thought I'd toss this out there for future seasons...
If there's multiple teams that bail again, why not let the new owners do a dispersal draft with the contracts and draft picks of the open teams?
They'd pick and choose from all of the rostered players and draft picks, but can't exceed the $45m hard cap. If they pick a player and they go over the cap, they'd have to make the necessary drops so that they don't go over and cap hits would get applied for future seasons.
Thoughts?

lol
We've never done dispersals here for some reason, but you'd think it wouldn't be incredibly difficult to do? Another league that LB and I are in, do dispersals when there are multiple teams available.
I think it'd nice for new owners to make the team their own instead of always inheriting as is.

Yeah that wouldve been sweet. With mccoy, luck, 1.2, and 1.5 in play. N thats just off the top of my head. Maybe give an automatic year to upcoming FAs so the newbs don't have to worry about immediately tagging. I like it wabbit!

I do this in the other league I commish. It could be a lot of fun in this league too. The biggest reasons we don't here is we don't have multiple owners leave at the same time very often and not doing it, is simpler.
The concept of drafting, draft picks almost always seems to confuses at least one of the new owners when I've done it in other leagues. This league can be difficult to get a good handle on right away.

Usually, when the commissioner has a good team, these are the kind of polls you see...

I plan on doing a dispersal draft this time around.
The new owners (we have 3 at the moment) will draft all the contracts and draft picks from the old teams. I plan to have this done soon after we finalize who's coming back and before the Feb 15th deadline. Then the new owners can make any additional cuts they want and assign tags.

First, love this idea. Second, if possible how about there is live trading during this draft?braven112 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 2:07 pmI plan on doing a dispersal draft this time around.

Examples....
Team A is on the clock, Jake Butt is still available, and I offer Team A my 3rd round pick if they draft him and trade him to me.
Or
Team B is on the clock, TY Hilton is still available, and I offer Team B Melvin Gordon if they draft him and trade him to me.
Not sure how this could be set up, but it seems like it would work the way the Vegas Knights expansion draft worked

Re: Dispersal draft for future league seasons if multiple owners leave?
Yeah, I'm getting the 2 new owners (and one returning owner) setup this weekend. And I'm hoping to get the dispersal draft done before Feb 1st. I'll create a thread on the forum to hold the draft so everyone can follow along. I love the idea of being able to trade while this draft is going on. Normally these go really fast once everyone is online though so it might be done really quickly.
In terms of getting players on the correct teams we'll need to complete trades between the 3 owners so we don't loose contract info so expect to see a bunch of those going through once we start. That process will likely make it a little more difficult to offer official trade offers on the site.
In practice, it might work best to agree on a deal "in principle" as in email/chat with the new owner and then finalize it with an offer once the player is on the correct team.
