2010 FA Ideas
My main comment is that this draft was quick! Basically done in a week. Of course there weren't nearly the number of players available this year as in the past. This may be a more typical draft actually. I wouldn't have a problem having this draft a little later like this in the future, say the first week of April simply because we have more information.

Waiting until after the NFL schedule came out wouldn't suck.bonscott wrote:My main comment is that this draft was quick! Basically done in a week. That would be ideal in terms of bye weeks with QBs and kickers and stuff. But it would mean we might not start until end of April/early May and then we're bumping up against vacations and stuff. I'd rather that not happen. But we could certainly delay until early April at least.

From reading this I'm guessing the schedule is going to be released the week before the draft from now on. It seems like the NFL plans on making an event out of it.

Would Wednesday morning have been too late to start free agency for you?

No, I think starting around April 15th works great. Especially since the auction only took a week to complete, it would still be mostly done by the NFL draft and then we have our rookie draft a week or so later.
I certainly would have no problem moving the auction up a month to start April 15th (or the Friday nearest the 15th) in an attempt to get as much info as possible in terms of the NFL schedule/bye weeks, free agent signings and trades.

While I don't think it would suck to have it after the schedule was released. I also don't think it sucks to have my roster filled via FA well before the rookie draft, and have some time to work out trades before our draft.
I'd be ok either way, but there aren't that many leagues that have much activity in February and March so I really enjoy that in this league I can still get my fantasy football fix, and at least for me, it really fills in the downtimes from other leagues that I'm in. So I can focus in on this league and I don't have to worry about other league drafts or anything.

Usually, when the commissioner has a good team, these are the kind of polls you see...

Re: 2010 FA Ideas
Good points all around.
Frankly I'm fine no matter what. But I did like it being a little bit later due to NFL trades. Starting around April 1st would be fine by me if we want to change it.
