This one came to me today as I was thinking about the draft. The past couple years a number of rookies have been drafted in the auction after the rookie draft is over. Some of course actually went for more then minimum.
So the question is, should we just add a 4th round to the rookie draft? Totally optional of course as with the 3rd round?
Any downsides?

Re: Add 4th round to rookie draft?
I don't see any major downsides, I guess it would decrease (not necessarily a lot) the activity of the offseason FA period only because there is a slightly higher chance that a NFL rookie that starts to impress is already on a roster instead of going for a little over the minimum like it could happen now.
I don't really have strong feelings either way, I would be happy either way.

Usually, when the commissioner has a good team, these are the kind of polls you see...

This is part of football, and happens in the NFL as well, and for that reason I wouldn't like to see us add a 4th round. Plus, most(maybe all) of the rookie free agents picked up in this league are picked up after they make a splash in camp which comes after our draft is completed.bonscott wrote:The past couple years a number of rookies have been drafted in the auction after the rookie draft is over.
