Re: question
I like the idea, maybe have the deadline to start bids be the sunday before the first week of games? If others seem to like it perhaps we should vote on that for next season?
For this season I'm going to place the three players on the first blind bid period and owners that ended with high bids can place that bid or higher and others have one final chance to place a bid.

Usually, when the commissioner has a good team, these are the kind of polls you see...
Re: question
Just wanted to make sure that everyone knows that I was not trying to pull a fast one on anybody. I put Rudi up for bid the second I heard he was signed by Detroit. Thought he would be a nice handcuff for Smith. I didnt think anyone would bid so high for him but I kept being outbid. I think it sucks that this happened and I was not intending for anyone to not bid on him, in fact I didnt even know that the auction stopped at a specific time.
Well now my lineup is invalid so I guess I will be getting hit again. Not sure what to do here. I dont have Rudi, I dont have a valid roster and I dont know if I will win Rudi in blind bid auction so I will continue to have an invalid roster
Commish, please give some direction on this. I only have 19 players on my team.

If I only would have started the Detroit D, I would be the 2007 Dynasty champion. Damn you New Orleans D
In 08, I lost in the playoffs to Antonio Bryants career game and amazing TD grab (lost by .4). Actually it was one catch

Re: question
IMO this is not right. No rules were broken. How can you have what is basically a redo less than 24rs before the kickoff of week 1 Sunday games?braven112 wrote:For this season I'm going to place the three players on the first blind bid period and owners that ended with high bids can place that bid or higher and others have one final chance to place a bid.

Re: question
It doesn't effect anyone's starting lineup and this situation had no rules so I had to create something that was fair to the league.Achon44 wrote:IMO this is not right. No rules were broken. Re: question
I'd agree to just let it slide this year since no rules were broken. Many pointed out the loophole months ago but nothing was done about it so no rule was broken here.braven112 wrote:It doesn't effect anyone's starting lineup and this situation had no rules so I had to create something that was fair to the league.Achon44 wrote:IMO this is not right. And as Acer posted it does indeed effect his lineup. Not sure why Rudi came off his roster, Rudi had been bid on for nearly a week and he was nearly done at the deadline. At the least put Rudi back on his team but I'd say just put all 3 players back on the teams as no rule was broken this year.

Re: question
To give time make it a week. Thus basically make the deadline to start bids be Friday noon before Labor Day which is just under a week from the first game. It will have to be policed but I'm sure the league will police it. And set the auction to actually end say Wednesday at 9pm or something. This will then give teams a chance to get their lineups figured out before the first game. Ending the auction at the same time as the lineup deadline of the first game doesn't give that time.braven112 wrote:I like the idea, maybe have the deadline to start bids be the sunday before the first week of games? Re: question
Fair enough. We really don't know what the motivation was. But you have to admit it looks fishy and thus why all the outcry. Can't fault us for that.bonesman wrote:There's a lot of things I should do but I don't (and things I shouldn't do, but do)... I'm a disorganized, impulsive, lazy procrastinator. Shoulda dropped him a couple days ago at least if not a couple weeks ago if your intention was to free up salary and just let him go.
I'm 100% guilty of not being on the ball w/ the dates and minimum roster requirements n' such... if you think I'm being deceptive about that fact, there's no point in continuing this "relationship" and I'll say sianara

Thursday September 4th Auction ends at 7:00 p.m.braven112 wrote:this situation had no rules so I had to create something that was fair to the league.
That seems pretty cut and dry to me. I understand your argument is "where in the rule book does it say that players are automatically awarded to the team with the highest remaining bid at the end of the FA auction period?". If that's what this redo is based on then shame on us for not asking that question sooner. IMO this is turning into a two wrongs don't make a right type of situation.

Re: question
Besides, this happened last year too with players awarded at the end of the auction. Me and another team were bidding up on Garrard and I happened to have the last bid when the auction ended and thus I got Garrard. Different situation as he was being bid on all week, like Rudi this year, but when the hammer came down on the deadline the player was awarded. So same thing happened in both our seasons. This year was just different with a player being dropped so soon to the deadline thus not getting full rounds of bidding by all teams interested. That's the problem we need to address next year.Achon44 wrote:Thursday September 4th Auction ends at 7:00 p.m.braven112 wrote:this situation had no rules so I had to create something that was fair to the league.

Re: question
I understand the whole situation sucks and last year there wasn't anything glaring that made anyone take a closer look at this but before a player is awarded they should be the high bid for 36 hours and that wasn't allowed to happen. I didn't want to be in a position to have to make a decision like this but IMO this was the fairest way to handle it. We didn't have time to put together a vote so I had to make a executive decision.

Re: question
But you still have not addressed my concern with my illegal lineup. Now I am 0-1 already and not sure if I will get the guy I was winning at bids end. I also have no idea how much the bid was up to so I need you to send me that info.
Is there no way for me to pick a player up this week so I dont get an automatic loss?

One can say that you are removing the players from their rosters just becasue you don't like it and it basically comes down to a I'm the Commish, this is what I want, and the rest of you have to deal with it type of situation.braven112 wrote:No point in pretending was just a coincidence, no one is that naive

Re: question
I not sure how can take that as an personal attack Its just a fantast football decision IMO The purpose of the commish is to define grey areas. I have to make a decision, it may not be the best decision but it is what it is. We didn't really have any time to vote I just tired to come up that was fair in terms of the salary cap. Since this is a salary cap league I felt its important to have correct salaries?Achon44 wrote:Commish, I apoligize if this comes across as a personal attack, but after you posted this about LB...braven112 wrote:I understand the whole situation sucks and last year there wasn't anything glaring that made anyone take a closer look at this but before a player is awarded they should be the high bid for 36 hours and that wasn't allowed to happen. Acer sorry I missed your post before but no you won't automatically forfeit that would be ridiculously unfair to you. I also sent you and bonesman a pm last night with all the info. You only have to bid what your $ amount ended on.

Re: question
I was suggesting a week before sundays first games as opposed to a week before the first thursday game. Either is fine with me but later allows pickups a lttle later in the preseason where there are a lot of cuts.bonscott wrote:To give time make it a week. Re: question
I've always been one of the first to back you every time I thought you were right, but to me a redo in fantasy football is ridiculous joke. Look, you're the only one that feels this is the right move and I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks it's BS, but it's your league, so do what you want. If I had to guess turnover will probably be a little higher next season.braven112 wrote:Let me know when your done.Achon44 wrote:It can also be looked at as LB is in your division and you don't like the outcome, so you acted on it.braven112 wrote:I not sure how can take that as an personal attack Its just a fantast football decision

Re: question
Before I made any decision more people that something should be done. So I made a decision, only two people have even said anything regarding that decision. If it's ridiculous to have a redo its even more ridiculous to have two redo's. Look, I try to do what's best for the league if someone feels they need to leave the league because of there's nothing I can do.
It had no effect on anybody's lineup, I checked before I actually went ahead with idea, and both teams that were effected ended up winning. I'm not claiming its perfect but I don't think its quite as big of a deal as you are making it out to be.

Absolutely... if the shoe were on the other foot, I'd probably be one of the first in line calling shenanigans. So I don't fault anyone for being suspicious... but I'm still going to get pissed when I'm essentially called a liar and a cheater in the same sentence.
I regret the timing of the move immensely... and I'm sorry for any negative impact it ends up having on the league.... I gotta say though, I feel I made the right move (wish Rice would've performed better though) and the W this week feels very vindicating.

Re: question
Ok, let's move on. I don't like what was done either but let's move on.
As for next year why don't we make it "simpler" and together with other offseason activities so that we only have to remember 1 date.
I believe next year we don't have any roster limits in the offseason and we have a "cut down" day I think the 3rd Sunday in August, correct? Which is also the deadline to assign rookie contracts.
So why don't we also make that the Auction deadline to call up new players? Let the auction continue on any players still on the board.
Then run a blind bidding window say from the Tuesday after Labor Day until Thursday noon the day of the first game?
This way it gives 1-2 weeks (depending on when Labor Day falls) to complete any ongoing auctions. Then the blind bidding window before the season starts will allow teams to make any last minute fill-ins as well as bid on any players dropped on cut down day.
Thus the 3rd Sunday in August because a major deadline for many league activities, ongoing auctions can complete and then a fair blind bid for any left over free agents before the season begins.
Fair for everyone and we should avoid any more problems like this.

I guess I just really don't understand why Rudi needed to be thrown back in. It seems the entire beef is based on McGahee and Rudi was thrown in just so it didn't seem like LB was being singled out about McGahee. Rudi was initially put up on Sunday evening 4 days before the deadline. I know for a fact every team in the league had logged on during those 4 days and at least 2 other teams beside Acer did bid on him. Bonscott has pointed out that a similar situation happened last year and nobody who was in the league at the time including you had a problem with the outcome, so with the exception of maybe Joe (Degenerates) we all knew bidding on Rudi would end Thursday 7PM EST.
Acer, I really hope nobody outbids you on Rudi. You don't deserve it.
Commish, make sure you adjust LB and Acer's salary cap room before blind bidding starts.
