Re: Waiver Ideas
I don't like the idea of FCFS starting on Wednesday night. Players can still get injured in practice leaving the door open for an owner to grab their replacement for cheap. IMO Friday night would work much better.

Re: Waiver Ideas
Well, I might not be totally against that but to have FCFS only open Friday overnight to Saturday noon (most of which people will be sleeping) doesn't really seem to be worth it.Achon44 wrote:I don't like the idea of FCFS starting on Wednesday night. I understand the concern but in my mind, any backup that's really worth anything is already on a roster or snapped up in blind bidding. Anyone picked up in FCFS isn't going to starter worthy, at least 99% of the time. Sure, it's possible a gem turns up, but so be it if it happens.
Could start FCFS Thursday at 9pm or something as an idea to alleviate some of your concern.

Re: Waiver Ideas
Commish was concerned about contracts. Teams would get to see their new player actually play a game before assigning a contract (have 24 hours). I would share that concern. Thus the Saturday noon deadline which gives 24 hours to sign the player before games start.Achon44 wrote: What if we keep it open until Sunday at noon?

Re: Waiver Ideas
I totally agree with that concern. We could always change the contract rule for FCFS to 1 hour. The owner is obviously on the website when he picks up the player, unlike when the blind bidding runs, so it wouldn't be difficult for the owner to then post contract years for the player within an hour after picking him up.bonscott wrote:Commish was concerned about contracts. Re: Waiver Ideas
We could go:
* Blind Bidding Sunday 1:00 pm thru Thursday 10:45pm ET
* FCFS from Thursday 10:45pm thru Sunday at 12:45pm
Misc settings:
* Salary for FCFS is league minimum, 24 hours or before 1:00pm Sunday whichever comes first to declare contract beyond 1 yr as normal
* Lock players from FCFS once their game has started
* All dropped players during the week from either period are locked until Sunday 1:15 and thus have to go thru a bidding period first.
What about weeks with Thursday games though?
* Blind Bidding Sunday 1:00 pm thru Thursday 10:45pm ET

Usually, when the commissioner has a good team, these are the kind of polls you see...

Well first off, you can't "cross" waiver periods above. I'm assuming you want the Blind Bidding to end Wednesday at 10:45pm?
And maybe you want FCFS to start Thursday at 10:45pm?

No I meant for FCFS to start after the blind bidding ends on Thursday

Re: Waiver Ideas
So Blind Bidding Sunday 1pm to Thursday 10:45pmbraven112 wrote:No I meant for FCFS to start after the blind bidding ends on Thursday
FCFS from Thursday 11pm to Sunday 12:45pm
?
That would be fine except I wouldn't mind backing the time back an hour or so for us east coast folks. 11pm could be late for those that have to be in to work at 5am. Starting at 10pm for FCFS would still be just 7pm on the west coast and most should be home from work by then. Obviously there isn't a single time that works for everyone but this should accommodate most.
Blind Bidding Sunday 1pm to Thursday 9:45pm
FCFS from Thursday 10pm to Sunday 12:45pm
On weeks with Thursday games I'd say do just like we do now, end Blind Bidding Wednesday at 4pm. Works now, should still work. Leave FCFS start at the same time, Thursday 10pm.

Re: Waiver Ideas
Just thought about the first misc setting, what about the Saturday games end of the year or even the odd Friday night game. I might suggest this:braven112 wrote: Misc settings:
* Salary for FCFS is league minimum, 24 hours or before 1:00pm Sunday whichever comes first to declare contract beyond 1 yr as normal
* Lock players from FCFS once their game has started
* All dropped players during the week from either period are locked until Sunday 1:15 and thus have to go thru a bidding period first.[/b]
* Salary for FCFS is league minimum. Contracts beyond 1 yr must be declared within 24 hours or before kickoff of the players game, whichever comes first
This way it covers all late week games. So if I pick up a guy Saturday at 12:30 and there is a game at 1pm on Saturday then I need to get his extended contract in my the 1pm kickoff on Saturday.

Re: Waiver Ideas
Is there a setting that will lockout the players from the Thursday night game from being available for FCFS?bonscott wrote:On weeks with Thursday games I'd say do just like we do now, end Blind Bidding Wednesday at 4pm. Works now, should still work. Leave FCFS start at the same time, Thursday 10pm.

Re: Waiver Ideas
Yes, he listed it above as part of the misc settings. Basically it's lock players from FCFS once their game starts. So it would lock any Thursday/Friday/Saturday players from FCFS once their game starts. We've used that setting in my local leagues for a couple years now and it works fine.Achon44 wrote:Is there a setting that will lockout the players from the Thursday night game from being available for FCFS?bonscott wrote:On weeks with Thursday games I'd say do just like we do now, end Blind Bidding Wednesday at 4pm. Re: Waiver Ideas
Ok, so do we have enough people paying attention yet to vote on this?
Here is proposed wording of the new rule:
Weekly Waivers:
* Blind Bidding Sunday 1pm thru Thursday 9:45pm
* FCFS from Thursday 10pm thru Sunday 12:45pm
On weeks with Thursday games Blind Bidding ends Wednesday at 4pm. FCFS will be unchanged.
Misc settings:
* Salary for FCFS is league minimum. Contracts beyond 1 yr must be declared within 24 hours or before kickoff of the players game, whichever comes first
* Lock players from FCFS once their game has started
* All dropped players during the week from either period are locked until Sunday 1:15pm (and thus have to go thru a bidding period first).
ALL TIMES EASTERN.

Re: Waiver Ideas
I am good with the way it is worded above in Bonscott's post. Are all the times identified in the write up Eastern Standard Time?

Actually the final wording is a bit better as it covers all bases, see my post a couple above.BarneyFife wrote:I am ok with this proposal - FCFS has 1 hr to declare length of contract or default is 1 yr

Just FYI that we've always had blind bidding. The only thing this change proposes is to add a FCFS period after blind bidding each week.BarneyFife wrote:I am good with the change as well... i like the idea of a blind bid process
