Vote! Should we adjust the waiver windows as laid out below
Weekly Waivers:
* Blind Bidding Sunday 1pm thru Thursday 9:45pm
* FCFS from Thursday 10pm thru Sunday 12:45pm
On weeks with Thursday games Blind Bidding ends Wednesday at 4pm. FCFS will be unchanged.
Misc settings:
* Salary for FCFS is league minimum. Contracts beyond 1 yr must be declared within 24 hours or before kickoff of the players game, whichever comes first
* Lock players from FCFS once their game has started
* All dropped players during the week from either period are locked until Sunday 1:15pm (and thus have to go thru a bidding period first).
ALL TIMES EASTERN.

Usually, when the commissioner has a good team, these are the kind of polls you see...

You don't have to out yourself if you don't want to, but I'm curious why the no vote? Are we all missing something that we aren't seeing that is bad about this?

Well......now that FCFS does not go into effect until 2011 we will still be implementing 2 blind periods per week, correct?

That wasn't part of the proposal (although there was discussion on that about a year ago I think).Achon44 wrote: we will still be implementing 2 blind periods per week, correct?
Basically nothing will change this year, 2011 will add in a FCFS period.
I still can't believe someone would vote no on this just to delay it to 2011. Makes no sense (unless we're missing something of course).

I remember voting on it last year and we had the same result as this vote. It passed , but not unanimously.bonscott wrote:That wasn't part of the proposal (although there was discussion on that about a year ago I think).

Re: Vote! Should we adjust the waiver windows as laid out below
yup... should be 2 windows this year
http://www.dynastytheleague.com/forum/v ... ?f=5&t=573
and with that in mind I'm glad the FCFS got shot down and I don't think we should do it next year (although I did vote yes in this poll)
I think we may have forgot about the 2 windows vote when the FCFS got proposed

Yea, I don't remember the 2 windows at all. I'd much rather have one window followed by FCFS then 2 windows simply because you can't lock players whose game has started from the blind bidding like you can FCFS. Just a lot cleaner to have the players lock.

So... when there's Thursday games later in the season someone might be able to bid on a guy who played Thurs and get him on Saturday when he shouldn't have been eligible until Wed? If that's the case we could just throw him back and then we'd have an idea of what that owner was willing to pay for that player.
It seems to me like the two bidding windows is more in line w/ the theme of the league.... though there were several instances last year where I would've liked to have done a last min FCFS transaction to try to get a few extra points from the K or TE position.

I updated the waivers based on our vote last year, if you have a sec take a look and make sure there are no errors.

Re: Vote! Should we adjust the waiver windows as laid out below
Yea, that's the problem. MFL has a setting to lock players from FCFS once their game starts, but not from blind bidding or standard waivers. So my understanding is that you could add *or drop* a guy that played in a Thursday night game in blind bidding that will run later in the week. That to me is a big loophole I don't like. In particular the dropping part. To me it's like having an extra roster spot to be able to drop a guy who already played on Thursday to pick up someone playing on Sunday.bonesman wrote:bonscott wrote:Yea, I don't remember the 2 windows at all. I guess we'll find out as the season progresses. Maybe it won't be an issue at all.

Re: Vote! Should we adjust the waiver windows as laid out below
Looks fine other then it used to end on Satuday at noon eastern to give teams 24 hours to assign contracts. Looks like the calendar has 3pm eastern right now. Could scale it back to 1pm eastern which would be exactly 24 hours.braven112 wrote:I updated the waivers based on our vote last year, if you have a sec take a look and make sure there are no errors.

Same should be for Wednesday for Thursday games. I believe our blind bidding last year ended at 4pm eastern on Wednesday.
If we're just adding in this new waiver window then I'd suggest the first window end Wednesday at 4pm and the second window end at Saturday noon (or 1pm) which follows what we've done in the past. Could push the Wednesday window to end at 8pm which would give just 24 hours for contract assignment.

Seems to be more of a technical loophole that we can close up through wording than an actual exploitable loophole. If someone does bid on an ineligible player we just manually undo the transaction and then that owner has now shown his hand.
It doesn't seem like it'd be th at big of a deal... especially since there's only 5 or 6 weeks towards the end of the season that it'd really effect us, if at all.

Re: Vote! Should we adjust the waiver windows as laid out below
In terms of the times of the waiver windows we'll go with what we voted on, I think that makes the most sense and since we already talked about it in the thread it is very clear what we wanted at the time.
In terms of locking players all players that are dropped are locked until sunday at 1pm ET so if you drop someone he is locked until then and can't be bidded on until after that.
I guess its not officially spelled out but once a players game starts he's locked on your team for that week, I don't think there is really any other option here. And you can't ever start a guy thats already played on Thursday either. I can't think of a credible league that would handle these situations any differently, unless I'm missing something, right?

Just wondering what the status of this is for next year since it came up in the chatbox.

Re: Vote! Should we adjust the waiver windows as laid out below
Yea, good question.
I think all of us (or most) forgot we had already voted last year to add the 2nd blind bidding window.
I guess we may have to vote on which way we want to go....2nd bidding window or FCFS.
I will say personally that so far the 2nd bidding window has been fine for me. I'm still a bit leery once Thursday games start but we'll find out. Certainly I think we need to vote/figure this out before the end of the season while we're all still around.

Everything looks good except that you've got an extra Blind Bid and FCFS after week 16. So reduce the number of repeats by 1 and those should be good.braven112 wrote:I updated the waiver calender, if you can take a moment and double check I would appreciated it thanks.

I would also suggest ending Blind Bidding Thursday evening say 10pm EST/7pm PST and start up FCFS then at 10:15/7:15 instead of in the middle of the night. This way everyone should have a chance to jump on FCFS when it starts vs. the way it's on the calendar starting 1am EST/10pm PST, those not on the west coast will be asleep.

I changed the times I entered the end times in Eastern Time instead of Pacific.

Re: Vote! Should we adjust the waiver windows as laid out below
I think we should put some verbiage in the constitution that addresses contracts for guys acquired through FCFS. 24 hours has always been our rule... but I think we should have a 24 hrs or before kickoff rule.
I don't think anyone has added a guy and then waited to see how he did that week before deciding years... that's because we're all cool and realize that it's not in the spirit of the setup we have... I think we should make it explicit though.
Also, I think it should be mandatory for Brandon to publicly announce his contract years on the forum like the rest of us. That wouldn't need a change to the constitution though.

I'd agree with both. Just a clarification on the first and for the second the commish should post yrs on the forum ike everyone else.bonesman wrote:I think we should put some verbiage in the constitution that addresses contracts for guys acquired through FCFS. 24 hours has always been our rule... but I think we should have a 24 hrs or before kickoff rule.
