Vote! Extend the time we have to declare contracts?
For the offseason only. Should we extend the time we have to declare contracts to 48 hours?

Usually, when the commissioner has a good team, these are the kind of polls you see...

Since the 3 abstentions count as yes votes, this means it takes effect immediately, right? Does that also mean we're going to retroactively allow the guys who were late a week ago to have their contracts? That's fine by me, but I want to make sure we're all on the same page.

Yeah and I'll also apply it to the 2 contracts that were in questions.

I'd like to change my vote if that's the case.

BTW, I am vehemently against retroactively applying this rule change as it punishes people who policed themselves and didn't try to slip contracts through after the 24 hr period (I know there's at least one)... and rewards people that essentially tried to cheat.

Essentially tried to cheat? Did something happen to you recently to make you this angry? I don't care whatever happens, but you sure are being pretty uptight about such a small issue. I could understand if some big news posted right before I made my contract posting, or if I waited like a week...but I was 15 hours late or so. Late? Yes. So late that it deserves someone so adamant about beating them down? Well, I'd hate to have had you as a parent growing up.bonesman wrote:BTW, I am vehemently against retroactively applying this rule change as it punishes people who policed themselves and didn't try to slip contracts through after the 24 hr period (I know there's at least one)... and rewards people that essentially tried to cheat.
Shit happens man. Get over the small stuff.
But yea, not making a fuss. Don't care what happens. Its small either way, if I get to keep my contract that I wanted or if I only get 1 year since I was technically late.

I knew that the "essentially tried to cheat" line wouldn't go over well... oh well... I assure you there's no anger or malice on my end over this, though I do admit I'm being very uptight. I like my FF leagues run by the book... not sometimes it's a rule, sometimes it isn't.

I appreciate your opinion, but this hasn't ever been enforced with an iron fist. And the only reason this was even an issue is because you brought up one specific case. You have to understand the intent of the 24 hour rule in the first place is so people don't gain an unfair advantage by waiting until news comes out and we have some sort of deadline. In neither of the two cases was an unfair advantage gained. We all have an idea how long we are going to sign a player when we put them up for bid.bonesman wrote:BTW, I am vehemently against retroactively applying this rule change as it punishes people who policed themselves and didn't try to slip contracts through after the 24 hr period (I know there's at least one)... and rewards people that essentially tried to cheat.
I understand your point but I don't believe that people were trying to "cheat" as you say. I've been loose with the rule for as long as we've been playing. Sorry.

Welp... it's your call. And cheating might've been a poor choice of words... "attempting to circumvent the rules" better? Assuming they knew the deadline had passed when it was posted, that is.
Anyway, I hope the new deadline is actually enforced.

I used to run my league strictly by the rules. On the whole, I agree that rules are rules. But, once you have some issues of your own that keep you from focusing on fantasy football, you tend to be a little more lenient as a commissioner. If the guy isn't a repeat offender who consistently is negligent, there's no harm done. This is fantasy football, and should enjoyed as a release from real life. It shouldn't add to our stress levels.

Was just wanting to verify if the 48 hour window is still open now that we've done our roster cuts, or is it back to 24 hours?

Unless we decided something else that I can't recall. I think its 48 hours the whole offseason, all the way till kickoff of week 1.
