2012 Website
I'm going to change our template in the near future. I want to keep it as familiar as possible but also add some new features to make it easier to get to everything. If you have any suggestions or have things that you like (or hate) about the current site let me know.

Usually, when the commissioner has a good team, these are the kind of polls you see...

Re: 2012 Website
Very early on in the design process and there are lots of bugs/enhancements I'm going to make but here is what I have so far.

You can login and play around with it.
So far I've only tested it in chrome and FF once I'm done, I'll fix the IE bugs.

Re: 2012 Website
First impression is that the font really needs to be changed. It is really hard to read. It's not that it's too small but just hard to read, almost "squished" in a way. It does hurt my eyes. I am using Chrome if that matters.braven112 wrote:Very early on in the design process and there are lots of bugs/enhancements I'm going to make but here is what I have so far.

I kinda like the icons up along the top. The hospital for IR is classic. Now you just need a taxi cab to take you to the Taxi Squad page.

I've never really been a fan of the "rotating" information on the home page. Annoys me to no end to see something and start reading it only to have it switch to the next "slide". I vote to dump it.
This is probably more a personal thing but I've noticed now for about a month that many of the images on the web site (and on this forum) don't come thru for me. I'm talking mostly the team icons/banners like on the standings reports. The ones pointing to dynastytheleague.com are blocked at my company firewall, the ones pointing to theleague.us are not blocked. If there is any way to update any images to theleague.us it would be appreciated. I would assume others will begin to encounter similar issues if it's a general firewall thing not unique to my company.
If you want some more ideas of things to do, you can check my league page from last year. It's spartan in terms of graphics and stuff but it gets the job done and my owners haven't wanted me to change it for a while. I like that the vast majority of reports and information any owner could want are all together on the various tabs.

Re: 2012 Website
Just had to reset the password.... I can see what Scott means about the font - really the top MFL menu- little tough to make out.
Personally I do like the slider option as I think it's a good way to showcase things- graphic announcements, articles etc. that said, if others aren't a fan I could see where you don't run with it.
Having habmans " if the playoffs started today" script is great. Looks like ts right on too as it has me as a division winner

Overall, the look is clean. I don't mind the font. Any change is going to take a while to get used to.
I've found a report that is wider than the width of the template - http://football13.myfantasyleague.com/2 ... 53153&O=08.

With the stats screen, is there any way to get coloured vertical columns as well? The numbers kinda squish together, and I'm on a 27" monitor over herebraven112 wrote:Good call, is it better for now?griblets wrote:Overall, the look is clean. I don't mind the font. Re: 2012 Website
I'll check, I don't think they have a class for each column, only each row but if they do I'll definitely do that. MFL could really rethink some of these pages where its impossible to get these reports inside 1000px wide and easily readable.Wascawy Wabbits wrote:With the stats screen, is there any way to get coloured vertical columns as well? Re: 2012 Website
Still having a tough time with the font. It's squished and really hard to read no matter how big or small I make it. Really surprised others aren't having issues with it. Looks like the font is something called "Oswald" (never heard of that font). My work laptop runs XP (no choice) and looks like that font isn't installed which may be why it's having issues. I'd highly suggest going with a font that is going to be on most operating systems.
I would agree with an earlier comment that it looks a bit "spartan". There is a lot of info there but it looks empty and the white on white background doesn't help it
I think headings of columns are missing some sort of background color which may be part of it.
Also I think vertical line separators are missing which also lends to this empty look. Also makes it harder to read reports like the player stats report because all the numbers kinda run together with no separation. Even having just a light gray line vertical and horizontal with cellspacing of say 2px would help a lot.
Just some thoughts.

Re: 2012 Website
BTW Oswald is a google font so everyone has it "on the cloud". It comes in crystal clear with Chrome on my home and work computer but not with IE, chrome is all I use anymore. If you have screen shots that you can send or post that may help.

Its not close to being done at all, I still want to add more graphics here and there and colors but I like to start with very few colors to start with and add in color to draw attention to certain areas as needed so its stays clean.

Re: 2012 Website
No troubles. I was using Chrome as well. I'm at home today (day off!) and it looks much better on my home PC (Chrome as well). So only thing I can think of is my company firewall must be blocking some of the Google "cloud" stuff thus the font isn't coming in correctly. I won't worry about it anymore in terms of work, I'll just deal as it's obviously only affecting me. If it keeps going I'll try to find an extension to do a font replacement.
Oh, here is an idea...the newbies have revived the use of trade bait which is great. I think we should have the trade bait more visible on the home page via module or at least a link. I think that would be cool.

I think this is a great idea. Originally I liked putting it in the forum, but have found the trade bait on site almost works better/more convenient. I would suggest some kind of trade bait graphic, as a click thru to the trade bait screen.Oh, here is an idea...the newbies have revived the use of trade bait which is great. Re: 2012 Website
Yeah, I'll add that for sure. Now that MFL sends email updates it makes it pretty easy to track updates to that report. Maybe I'll add links to the trade bait to the forum and from the forum to the MFL module.

If you guys have some free time can you add some people to the auction, update your trade bait makes some drops and any other things you can think of to kick the tires on this before I roll it out for reals.
I'm thinking that after our draft we'll switch over.

Re: 2012 Website
Ok, here is what I'm seeing font wise. It's only on my work laptop which is Win XP and obviously no dedicated video card. In my copious research on Google web fonts the issue appears to be that Accelerated 2D canvas is not supported on XP (or on systems without a dedicated video card) and thus the Google fonts don't display properly in Chrome.
Here is a screenshot:

Certainly I'll deal with it since I seem to be the only one effected. But it's still annoying.
Guess I'll wait until I get home on my Win 7 machine to do league stuff.

Can you turn on ClearType Font in XP with that computer?

Yep, I'm an admin on the laptop.braven112 wrote:Can you turn on ClearType Font in XP with that computer?

I did that yesterday and it helped overall in Windows, I'll tell you that. As for the page, it helped quite a bit with any text that is bolded or bigger in size. The smaller text like player names improved a bit but not much. If I increase the font size of the page up a couple steps it makes it readable, although big. So good enough.

Now if I could just convince them to upgrade me to Win 7...

Now that the new site is up, I'd like to get a list of things that are now harder than before and what is easier. A lot of things have just moved but I'll make as many adjustments an I can to make it as easy as before.

May have missed it in chat, but the "window" icon for chat is missing (or I don't see it). This was great to see older posts you have missed.
I'd like to see a playoff tab that has all the brackets and the habman app on it.
I'll mull over anything else that seems harder or missing.

Also, any way to update all the images (like the team banners) to come from the new domain, theleague.us as the old domain is blocked at work. Damn firewall.

Re: 2012 Website
A couple weird things I've noticed
On the trade bait screen, the text under "In Exchange For" beside Poker is red and italics where as the rest is black.
Clicking on the Add Player button brings up a warning screen about waivers not being allowed, but clicking on Place Auction Bid on the first screen in the main window brings up the ability to place bids.
This may just be nit picking, but is it possible to get the salaries for our rosters to be right aligned as opposed to centred? Makes it a bit less confusing (for me at least) to look at salaries when the numbers are all lined up with each other as opposed in random placements
It's taken some getting used to the placements of things (Clicking the Rules button to find the Constitution, click the General Manager tab to find trade bait, etc). I think my only gripe about it is that I find that I have to scroll a lot, where as on the old site you didn't. You could see the majority of the info on the screen all at once. I can't really view all my entire roster info without having to scroll now.
