Quick question on taxi squad

Post by joe.commish » Fri Feb 22, 2008 8:39 am

Across the many MFL leagues I am in, none other than this one utilize a taxi squad (practice reserve = PR?). I want to be sure that those players, if any, would appear on the rosters page?

Currently, it doesn't appear anyone is on there? Or do those players show up elsewhere? I think I have it right, just want to be sure. Thanks!

Team Rosters
Each team will have a maximum of 20 players on their active roster and an additional 2 practice squad (taxi squad) spots.
Teams are required to have 20 players under contract from the first game of the season until the last game of the year, Week 17
Rosters may consist of any combination of the following positions; QB,RB,WR,TE,PK,DEF
Teams have the option of placing 2 Rookies onto the Practice Squad at a rate of 50% base salary against the cap.
Only rookies are eligible for the practice squad.

During the offseason (defined on league calander) teams may be below the required 20-man roster.
All teams must have 20 players under contract at the conclusion of the Off-Season Free Agency Period.
At the begining of each season all players that finished the previous year on the IR or Practice squad must be removed and placed on the active roster. Teams have until Feb 22nd to meet this requirement.

Above is pasted from our constitution. Hope it makes sense, but basically ONLY rookies can be placed on the PR. Once the season ends, those players are not considered rookies anymore thus must be moved to the active roster. Thats why currently you do not see any players on the PR because we dont have any rookies on our rosters yet..... and yes they do appear on our roster page.

The players will show on the roster page, right below your normal roster.

Here is an example:

Usually, when the commissioner has a good team, these are the kind of polls you see...

Another taxi squad question. Didn't see it in the constitution, so wanted to clarify for myself...

Are you allowed to activate, then deactivate a taxi squad player in-season? Again, don't see any hard rules against it. Looks like as long as you are under the cap, you can shuttle guys back and forth, no?

I have 19 roster spots and 2 taxi squad guys. If I needed to use the rookie Seattle kicker (assuming he doesn't get cut) one week, I could activate him, put him in my lineup, then send him back to the taxi squad the following week? All along I was thinking this is how it worked, but now I'm thinking maybe I would be possibly exploiting some sort of loophole? Or is that exactly the way it was intended?

Yes, you can activate and deactivate players to and from the taxi squad all you want in-season. Only restriction is that to be on the taxi squad the player must be a rookie. So you can do exactly as you want for your kicker for example. This is also a good reason to keep your active roster at 19 if you have rookies that could start for you at some point so you'll have room to move them back and forth.

Thanks, Scott. That is the reason I have it at 19. I just suddenly got paranoid.
